Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, you will be warmly welcomed and transferred to your hotel. After check-in, you can rest or take a short walk around the lively streets of Thamel. Overnight in Kathmandu.
Today you explore the cultural highlights of the valley. Visit the sacred Pashupatinath Temple, one of the most important Hindu temples, and the magnificent Boudhanath Stupa, a center of Tibetan Buddhism. Continue to Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple) for panoramic views, and explore Kathmandu Durbar Square. Overnight in Kathmandu.
Flight to Lhasa. Upon arrival, meet your Tibetan guide and transfer to your hotel. Rest and acclimatize to the altitude. Drink plenty of water and avoid exertion.
Visit Ramoche Temple and the sacred Jokhang Temple. Walk around Barkhor Bazaar. In the afternoon, visit Sera Monastery and witness the famous monk debate sessions.
Explore the iconic Potala Palace, the former winter residence of the Dalai Lama, and the beautiful Norbulingka, the summer palace.
Drive across high mountain passes including Kampa-la and Karo-la, with views of glaciers and the stunning Yamdrok Lake. Visit Pelkor Chode Monastery and Kumbum Stupa in Gyantse before continuing to Shigatse.
Drive via Gyatso La Pass with your first views of Mount Everest. Continue to Rongbuk Monastery, the highest monastery in the world. Take the eco-bus towards Everest Base Camp area (as permitted). Overnight at a guesthouse.
Enjoy an early sunrise view over Everest. Visit Rongbuk Monastery and drive back to Shigatse for rest and comfort.
Visit Tashilhunpo Monastery, seat of the Panchen Lama. Then drive back to Lhasa along the Yarlung Tsangpo River.
Transfer to the airport for your return flight to Kathmandu. Upon arrival, transfer to hotel and enjoy free time for shopping or relaxation.
